2013 Year in Review: CaseIndy Misc Remodeling Projects

Over the past few editions of theInspiredHome, we have given you an overview of our projects of the most popular spaces to remodel. However, there are many other rooms in a home, and our clients did not ignore them. We brought a whole new look to many types of spaces in 2013:

Bedrooms:

As space is a premium in older homes, these homeowners were ready to create a functional master bedroom suite that also paid homage to its history. By reconfiguring the original floorplan, a library, master bath and huge closet were added to this cozy bedroom.

Fireplaces:

smallerIMG_0058aFireplaces are not just for creating fires – they can be the wow-factor of a home. These homeowners removed their builder-grade hearth and installed a custom-made limestone mantle that steals the show in their living room.

Living Room PhotoThese homeowners were tired of their spec homes’ lack of custom details and architectural interest. So, they took their love of natural materials and transformed their basic fireplace inset into a stunning feature wall. The stacked stone was paired with a new natural wood beam to add a lodge look to the room. The mantle was custom-designed by our designer and built by hand by our carpenter.

IMG_2500Even in small spaces, a fireplace serves as a focal point. For these homeowners, the double-walled fireplace was the center of their family room. Giving it an upgrade made the whole room feel like new.

Office Spaces:

PD3_8500_2We want the kids on their computers where we can see them, but not necessarily where they will be underfoot. These homeowners solved this dilemma by turning their unused dining room into a kid-friendly work station. Open to the adjacent kitchen, the kids can easily complete their homework, play games and surf the net under the watchful eye of their parents.

Home Office“A place for everything and everything in its place” was the goal for this office remodel. These homeowners never had space for their files, computer and grand kid activities storage. So, during their whole house remodel, they decided to create one. A wall of storage cabinetry and a built-in desk served as the basis for the new office space.

PD2_0253When you work from home, having a space that evokes efficiency and creativity can seem like a luxury. This homeowner decided to give himself this gift during his lower level remodel. Interior windows between the office space and family room allow light to filter into the whole space and make the office feel quite spacious.

Entryways & Staircases:

The first place guests enter your home sets the tone for the rest of their visit. These homeowners were ready to bring the wow-factor at first glance.

IMG_2382Removing the dated golden oak color from this staircase and adding a updated stain gave this home a new look. New marble flooring completed the refresh.

PD3_5920_HDRStaining the existing hardwood stair treads a rich deep brown and covering them with luxurious carpet runner completely transformed this entryway. In addition, the newel posts and railings were stained to match the stairs and the balusters and risers were repainted a bright, clean white.

Even the non ktichen and bath remodeling projects can have a great impact on the look and functionality of your home. Let one of our designers help you decide where to start. To schedule a free, in-home consultation, send us an email, or give us call at 846-2600.
