New Loft Design Ideas For an Old-Fashioned Master Bath

This stunning loft is located in the Old Northside neighborhood of Indianapolis. Built in 1901, the building originally housed the Indianapolis Power and Light company. In more recent years, the has taken on a new identity — divided and sold as individual loft-style apartments. It’s provided the perfect space for tenants to incorporate their loft design ideas into an industrial conversion remodel, right in the heart of the city.

Must-Have Solutions

The master bathroom was beautifully finished, but something was missing: it didn’t offer a bathtub, which was a “must-have” for these homeowners. We wanted to create space for a relaxing soaker tub, while amping up the spa-like atmosphere of the space with loft design ideas that met the modern make of this remodel and provided the cozy atmosphere that these clients were looking for.  By switching the location of the door and pushing the vanity back, we were able to open up the space and add a freestanding tub, leaving room for the tile to be the star of the show! The combination of patterns and hues (including herringbone, penny, and crayon shaped tiles) lends incredible visual interest and style, heightening the modern feel of this loft-style master bath.

Finishing Touches

Wall sconces soften the light reflected from the mirror, while beautifully coordinated accessories–from the Moravian star hanging pendant to the faucets and mirrors–in a stylish champagne bronze finish add to the “wow” factor. A quartz countertop and painted maple cabinetry round out the features of this stunning bathroom makeover.
