Our clients wanted to feature a masonry fireplace with a covered patio to create a comfortable outdoor area for napping, watching golf and hosting family gatherings.
The Concept
The homeowners’ main goals for their new porch included creating an open-air covered porch that is cohesive with the rest of the home, retaining the grand view of the backyard from the front entry, and adding a dual-sided fireplace with a direct sightline to their kitchen.
Cohesive Design
Tying in with the existing gable end and rooflines, the porch structure was framed over the extended aggregate patio to support the cathedral ceiling. The elevated cathedral ceiling not only gives the room a grand appearance, but also retains the view of the backyard from the front entry and kitchen.
